3 hotspots to visit in The Heights / Washington Ave during the Houston Restaurant Weeks
Yay! The Houston Restaurant Weeks have started. From August 1 through September 5, participating restaurants create a special Houston Restaurant Weeks menu and make donations to the Food Bank based upon how many brunches, lunches and dinners they sell. As the Restaurant Weeks are organized by volunteers, hundred percent of the donations raised will go directly to the local food banks. It’s the perfect way to combine doing something good with enjoying a great meal at one of your favorite restaurants or at that new place you have been wanting to try.
To guide you to the best places to visit in The Heights / Washington Ave during the Houston Restaurant Weeks, I’ve listed three great spots in the area.
This is the perfect spot for meat lovers! B&B Butchers combines a butcher shop and restaurant in a completely renovated 100-year-old brick building on Washington Avenue. The restaurant has an elegant, industrial decor with cozy corners and a beautiful bar. During the HRW, they offer a special 2-course lunch menu for $20 per person and a 3-course dinner for $45 per person. Read the full blog about this hotspot.
Surrounded by other hotspots like Boomtown Coffee and Harold’s in the Heights, you find Shade. This restaurant has been located on 19th Street for quite some years, but I must admit that I haven’t been here yet. Many of my friends keep telling me that I should go as the food is supposed to be amazing. These HRW are going to be my chance! On their regular menu you find dishes like Shrimp and Grits, Pork Chop, and the Thai Red Curry Snapper I heard so much about. During the restaurant weeks they offer a special 3-course lunch menu for $20 and 3-course dinner for $35.
Benjy’s Upper Washington
Though this place is famous for it’s great weekend brunch and happy hour, they also certainly know how to serve a great dinner. The tasty food and drinks combined with their trendy interior, relaxed patio and buzzing vibe make it a great place to catch up with family and friends. Their special during the HRW? A 3-course dinner menu for $35 that includes delish dishes like crispy harissa spiced catfish and mom’s chocolate cake. Read my blog about this hotspot.
