Amazing sushi and Japanese tapas at Kata Robata Houston
Kata Robata is listed in almost every Top 10 you can find on the best sushi spots in town. It even ranked #11 in Alison Cook’s Top 100 Restaurants in Houston 2015! And for very good reasons; from the fresh sashimi to the tasty rolls, everything I ordered was amazing.
In the battle for the best sushi, chef Manabu Horiuchi brings unique options like the Rising sun with yellow tail, avocado, peppercorn tuna, and truffle vinaigrette. I never experienced truffle in sushi before, but it was such a great combination. For those who have difficulty choosing, the restaurant offers a sushi platter with a variety of nigiri sushi pieces and rolls. Is one of your dinner dates not in the mood for sushi or would you like to combine it with other Japanese dishes? No problem. Kata Robata serves plenty of traditional and modern Japanese dishes like the unagi bowl, their renowned lobster mac & cheese, and big bowls of ramen (they’re on my list with top spots for ramen!). From my experience I can tell you that it’s easy to go overboard with everything that is offered on the menu. But I would advise you to leave some space for dessert, as the chocolate mousse with marshmallow ice cream is simply incredible.
